Frequently Asked Questions

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a Japanese technique that promotes relaxation and healing. The word “reiki” is derived from two Japanese words: “rei” meaning universal and “ki” meaning life force energy.

What are the benefits of Reiki?

Reiki can aid in stress reduction, relief from physical ailments, and support the body’s ability to heal on a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level.

What happens during a Reiki session?

We will start by discussing what brings you in and any intentions for the session that you would like to share. You will then lie fully clothed on a massage table, and we will work together to make sure you are comfortable using pillows, bolsters, and/or blankets. Once you are settled, I hold my hands slightly above your body and work my way from your feet up to the crown of your head and back again, breaking up and balancing any energy blockages. I also incorporate sound healing into Reiki sessions.

What does receiving Reiki feel like?

Every Reiki session is unique. Some people report feeling physical sensations of tingling, warmth, or coolness, or a feeling of deep relaxation during sessions.

How should I prepare for a Reiki session?

Wear clothes that you feel comfortable lying down in and bring an open mind. It is also helpful to silence or turn off your phone once you arrive.
